..:: Rules of Engagement Last Updated 18 July 2008 ::..1. Purpose of ROE 1.1 The purpose of the Rules of Engagement (hereafter referred to as "ROE"), is to ensure that everyone has an enjoyable stay on our servers. 2. Scope 2.1 The ROE applies to all registered SGS game members, as well as any visitors from inside or outside the Republic of South Africa. 2.2 The ROE extends to all SGS game servers. 2.3 Specifically excluded from scope are things like IRC, external voice communication applications, chat programs and personal email communication. 2.4 The rules set out below should be adhered to at all times. 3 Public Admins 3.1 We have recruited a number of Public Admins that are responsible for enforcing the ROE on our servers. Our Admins are all respected members in the community and by playing on our servers YOU the player agree to treat them with RESPECT. The admins have been requested to play with their default NICK's, but this is not required. 3.2 Admins are responsible for keeping the servers clean of abusive users and for tasks like changing maps and adding more time to the games been played. 3.3 Admins have the right to enforce the terms of the ROE, which include the right to BAN you if you have broken any part of our ROE in their sole discretion. No prior warning is required. 3.4 Players aiding abusive users to cause chaos will also be punished. 3.5 Abusing behaviour towards our Admins will NOT be tolorated. If you feel that you have been treated unfairly, you may lodge an appeal with the Gamemaster who will review the matter. The Gamesmaster is empowered to confirm, amend or overrule the decision of any Admin (including a more serious punishment) and the decision of the Gamesmaster is final and binding. 3.6 Impersonating an Admin is a bannable offence.
4. Applications The following types of applications have been proven to give players an advantage. Players found using such applications to aid fellow gamers will be banned for cheating. 5 Cheating 5.1 Cheating in ANY form will result in an instant ban from the SGS servers there is no warning and there ares no second chance's. 5.2 We reserve the right to scan you for cheats. Whenever cheaters are caught via an automated system, or by solid telltales shown to an observing admin or reported to our Ban Master the cheater(s) will be removed. 5.3 Cheating is any unlawful measure that gives a player an unfair advantage over others. 5.4 Disabling/exploiting/bypassing game attributes such as a smoke-removal hack, using the cloak-pack or shield pack bugs to "stack" attributes 5.5 Ghosting (a dead player using the camera to assist a live player via voice over IP, telephone, across a room, etc) 5.6 Other such influential advantages that give the player an unfair advantage, therefore effectively handicapping the other players on the server. 5.7 Players who are unsure if their activities constitute an unfair advantage, should consult the Gamesmaster. 5.8 You will not exploit any bug in the game’s products or to gain unfair advantage in the game. 5.9 Stats boosting in games is regarded as cheating and players caught boosting their stats will be banned. 6 Unsportsmanlike Behaviour
6.1 You may not use any offensive or sexually explicit language in chat or voice mode. 6.2 Derogatory language and slander involving race, gender, sexual preference, religion or creed, including negative use of otherwise harmless words is not tolerated. This policy is enforced across the board. If a bigot feels the need to express his views on our server, they are creating a hostile environment for our other players. We do not feel the need to provide free servers to hate-mongers. 6.3 Offensive and pornographic sprays may not be used. 6.4 Offensive nicks used in-game will not be tolorated. The use of someone elses nick is also not allowed. If you think you are using another persons nick, please confirm this in the online stats before continuing to use the nick. This rule also applies to CLAN TAG'S. 6.5 Players that deliberately hinder their team will be removed. However, a player that is intentionally (and sadistically) disabling their own team goes against the idea of the 'serious gamer', and is therefore not welcome on our servers. You may report such incidents to our Ban Master for action. 6.6 Team killing, (Tk'ing) is also a major act of immaturity. Once or twice on accident is forgivable. But team killing intentionally for revenge or for fun, is an immature act and is not tolerated. You may report such incidents to our Ban Master for action. 6.7 You may not use any unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, hateful, racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable language toward any other player. You may report such incidents to our Ban Master for action. 6.8 You may not harass, threaten, embarrass or cause distress, unwanted attention or discomfo rt to another player. This includes imature actions like Teabagging. You may report such incidents to our Ban Master for action. 6.9 A little healthy trash-talk is fine and appropriate to gaming, just as it is to almost any other sporting event. However, prolonged and unsolicited harassment may be grounds for removal. In the event that a player feels the need to continually harass another gamer, they will be requested to cease immediately. If they continue, they may be removed. You may report such incidents to our Ban Master for action. 6.10 You may not post or communicate any player's real world personal information. You may report such incidents to our Ban Master for action. 6.11 You may not accuse others of cheating, if you feel that someone is cheating please report it to the Ban Master. 6.12 Spoonerisms may not be used in ingame chat as well as part of your player name ingame. Spoonerisms are words or phrases in which letters or syllables get swapped. 6.13 SGS reserves the right to deny service to any people or persons that they deem are reckless, causing damage, or disrupting the use of the game servers for other people. 7 General Rules 7.1 You may not arrange for the exchange or transfer of any pirated software or other contraband while you are on our servers or these Services. 7.2 You may not violate any local, state, national or international law or regulation. 7.3 You may not market, promote or advertise anything, or make any other form of solicitation (including pyramid schemes and chain letters) on any of our services. This extends to usage of url's as or part of nicknames used within the game. If you are sponsored you may only use the company name as a reference and not the complete url of that company. For example (CLAN)Joe - www.telkom.co.za may not be used the correct usage should be (CLAN)Joe - Telkom.
